Meaning of Tana Bana
“Tana Bana”, translates to warp and weft. The criss-cross pattern that firmly holds together thousands of threads, giving shape to the infinite creativity of humans, called textile. Besides its literal meaning, Tana Bana also represents interconnectedness. A single thread does not make a cloth, it is made by thousands of threads supporting and holding each other. With each criss-cross, each extra support, the cloth becomes stronger and resistant to wear and tear.
Human society mirrors the intricate nature of textile. When we connect with each other without blind judgement, support, and lift each other up, we become stronger.
Each person, like a single thread, might seem weak, fragile, irrelevant. But with help of others, that person forms an integral part of the society, without whom the human society may become vulnerable to withering away.
